Abstract:

Provided is a shock absorber that is capable of prolonging an overall product life. The present invention is characterized by being provide with: a cylinder 3 that houses silicon oil and forms a pressure chamber 13; a piston 5 that is disposed to be able to reciprocate with respect to the pressure chamber 13 in the cylinder 3; a piston rod 7 that is connected at one end to the piston 5 and that protrudes outside of the cylinder 3 at the other end; an U-gasket 9 that is formed of an elastic body and that that closes a portion between the cylinder 3 and the piston rod 7; and a glass film 27 that is provided to the outer surface of the piston rod 7 and that slides into contact with the U-gasket 9, wherein the silicon oil sticks to the surface of the glass film 27 of the piston rod 7, and slides with respect to the U-gasket 9 in this state, and thus a state of extremely low friction resistance can be generated by interposing the silicon oil between the glass film 27 and the U-gasket 9.
