Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of improving combustion efficiency while suppressing occurrence of knocking and combustion fluctuation, and improving exhaust gas characteristic in a case of having a main combustion chamber and an auxiliary combustion chamber.SOLUTION: A control device 1 of an internal combustion engine 3 includes an ECU 2. The ECU 2 executes retardation control for controlling an ignition timing of an air-fuel mixture in the auxiliary combustion chamber 3d to a retard side with respect to that when a catalyst is activated through an ignition plug 8, when an inactive state of the catalyst is estimated (step 5), and holds an air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture in a main combustion chamber 3c at a value before start of the retardation control through a main fuel injection valve 6, and controls an air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture in the auxiliary combustion chamber 3d to a rich side with respect to that when the retardation control is not executed, through an auxiliary fuel injection valve 7, when the retardation control is executed (step 4).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
