PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sharpen characters and fine lines without thickening, and to improve blurring of the characters and fine lines at the time of printing.SOLUTION: Four pixels arranged continuously in the vertical direction are selected from an object image, and correction applied to pixels Pb, Pc is determined based on the pixel values Va, Vb, Vc, Vd of four pixels. When Va=Vd=0, Vb≤50, Vc≥50, the pixel value Vb is corrected to the minimum pixel value 0, and the pixel value Vc is corrected to the maximum pixel value 100. When Va=Vd=0, Vb≥50, Vc≤50, the pixel value Vb is corrected to the maximum pixel value 100, and the pixel value Vc is corrected to the minimum pixel value 0. With regard to an object image outputted from an RIP processing system performing super sampling, half-tone in the vicinity of the boundary of a character or a fine line is eliminated, thus improving the blurring of the characters and fine lines at the time of printing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
