Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actuate a current blocking mechanism in a short time by making voltage increase during over-charge steeper to accelerate reaction of an over-charge inhibitor, in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery.SOLUTION: A lithium ion secondary battery, which is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprises: a cathode plate 60 having a cathode active material combined layer 64 containing lithium transition metal compound and lithium carbonate; an anode plate 50 having an anode active material combined layer 54 containing an anode active material; and a battery case accommodating the cathode plate 60, the anode plate 50, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. A conductive passage 70 for extracting current out of the battery from the cathode plate 60 is provided with a current blocking mechanism 100 that blocks current in correspondence with an increase in pressure in the battery case. An amount of lithium carbonate per volume in the battery case is 7 mg/cmor larger but 11 mg/cmor smaller. The bulk density of the cathode active material combined layer is 2.2 to 2.9 g/cm, and the percentage of void of the cathode active material combined layer is 30 to 40%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
