Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an event of a vehicle stopping due to the driver of the vehicle not waking up when switching to a manual operation from an automatic operation in the vehicle traveling on the automatic operation.SOLUTION: In a travel control apparatus 100, when a vehicle V reaches a stimulus provision start point set by a stimulus provision start point setup part 18, a stimulus provision part 16 provides a driver in sleep with a stimulus for waking up the driver. In a case where a sleep depth estimation part 15 estimates that the driver is awake before the vehicle V reaches a stop possibility zone, a travel control part 19 switches to a manual operation from an automatic operation; whereas in a case where the sleep depth estimation part 15 does not estimate that the driver is awake before the vehicle V reaches the stop possibility zone, the travel control part 19 stops the vehicle V in the stop possibility zone. It is possible to reduce an event of the vehicle stopping due to the driver not waking up because: the driver is prompted to wake up by stimulus; and the vehicle V is not stopped other than in a case where the driver does not wake by the stimulus.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
