Abstract:
The present invention relates to a polarizing plate 1 including a polarizer 2, a first retardation layer 3, and a second retardation layer 4. In the first retardation layer 3, an in-plane retardation value Re ([lambda]) at a wavelength [lambda] [nm] satisfies relationships of Re (450) < Re (550) < Re (650), and 100 nm ≤ Re (550) ≤ 200 nm. In the second retardation layer 4, assuming that a refractive index in a slow axis direction in a plane thereof is Nx, the refractive index in a fast axis direction in the plane thereof is Ny, and the refractive index in a thickness direction thereof is Nz, a relationship of Nz > Nx ≥ Ny is satisfied, and a retardation value Rth ([lambda]) in the thickness direction at a wavelength [lambda] [nm] satisfies a relationship of -300 nm ≤ Rth (550) ≤ -20 nm. A slow axis direction of the first retardation layer 3 is in a range of 40DEG to 50DEG or -50DEG to -40DEG from an absorption axis direction of the polarizer 2 assuming that a counterclockwise direction is positive, and a bending direction of a display device is set in a range of -5DEG to 5DEG or 85DEG to 95DEG with respect to the absorption axis direction of the polarizer 2.
