Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high hardness and high roughness steel causing no coarsening of crystal particles and exhibiting little dimensional change when hardened, and having a hardness after tempered of 63 HRC or more.SOLUTION: A high hardness and high toughness cold work tool steel is provided which contains, by mass%, C:0.6 to 0.9%, Si:0.7 to 0.9%, Mn:0.1 to 0.6%, Cr:4.0 to 6.5% or less, (Mo+W/2):over 2.0 to 5.0%, (V+Nb/2):0.1 to 0.6%, N:over 100 to 500 ppm and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which R representing stability of retained austenite during when the steel is hardened, is R=51.4×C(%)-4.2×Cr(%)-44.4×V(%)+0.1×N(ppm), hardness after tempered at R:15.0 to 31.0 and 500°C or more is 63HRC or more, the number of primary carbide in 500000 μm:200 or more and area ratio of the primary carbide in 500000 μm:0.5 to 3.0%.SELECTED DRAWING: None
