Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery system including a nickel-hydrogen battery, in which a decrease in capacity due to the production of NiOH within a positive electrode is appropriately suppressed.SOLUTION: A battery system 2 includes a battery pack 100 including a plurality of cells which are arrayed in a predetermined direction and each of which is a nickel-hydrogen battery. A memory 302 of an ECU 300 stores a map MP showing the relationship between the voltage and temperature of each cell and a decrease in the amount of full charge capacity due to NiOH that is produced within a positive electrode. By referring the map MP, the ECU 300 calculates a full charge capacity of a cell 111 arranged at an end in the predetermined direction and also calculates a full charge capacity of a cell 122 arranged at a central portion in the predetermined direction. In the case where the capacity difference ΔFCC between the full charge capacity FCC1 of the cell 111 and the full charge capacity FCC2 of the cell 122 is equal to or more than a reference value X, the ECU 300 lowers the upper limit of a charging voltage of the cells 111, 122 as compared with the case where the capacity difference ΔFCC is less than the reference value X.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
