Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device showing improved picture quality of a displayed video.SOLUTION: A display device 1 includes a video source 10 for projecting video light and a light guide plate 20 described below. The light guide plate has: a first light guide layer 201 where a first total reflection surface 121 totally reflecting the video light to a light guide direction is formed; and a second light guide layer 202 disposed at a position opposing to the first total reflection surface 121, in which a second total reflection layer 122 totally reflecting the video light to the light guide direction and an entrance surface 120 allowing the video light projected from the video source 10 to be incident to the first total reflection surface 121 are formed. The video source 10 is disposed in such a manner that the projected video light is incident at an angle equal to or larger than the critical angle with respect to a perpendicular of the first total reflection surface 121. An inclination angle θ2 of the entrance surface 120 with respect to the first total reflection surface 121 is less than (90°-θ1). A layer thickness th1 of the first light guide layer 201, a layer thickness th2 of the second light guide layer 202, and a width W of the entrance surface 120 in the perpendicular direction of the first total reflection surface 121 satisfy W>tanθ1×(2×th1+th2).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
