Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition having a fast response speed, which can be used for a liquid crystal display device driven by a field sequential system, and to provide a liquid crystal display device having a high contrast ratio or a liquid crystal display device suppressing decrease in a contrast ratio even when a liquid crystal panel having a relatively low transmittance of light is used.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition shows a refractive index anisotropy value (Δn) of 0.07 to 0.12 at a wavelength of 589 nm at 25°C, a dielectric anisotropy value (Δε) of -0.5 to -2.0 at 25°C, and a viscosity (η) of 15 mPa sec or less at 20°C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
