Abstract:
A solid oxide fuel cell includes: an electrolyte membrane; an anode formed on one surface of the electrolyte membrane; and a cathode formed on the other surface of the electrolyte membrane. The electrolyte membrane is composed of a melilite electrolyte (A) having a composition expressed by LaMXMgO, wherein M is an alkaline earth metal element other than Mg, X is a trivalent metal element, and 0 < y < 2, 0 ≤ z < 3, and α is a value retaining electrical neutrality. The anode is composed of an Ni-melilite cermet. The cathode is composed of (La,Sr)(Co,Fe)O. Further, a reaction preventing layer is not interposed between the cathode and the electrolyte membrane.
