Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow active carbon that has a practicable strength even with a small external diameter (easy moldability) and can improve a specific surface.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a cylindrical active carbon having a through hole penetrating from one end to the other end in cross section. Preferably, in the active carbon, diameter d of the through hole is 0.2-0.6 times longer than external diameter D, a pore volume is 0.30-1.40 cc/g, and a pore volume with a pore size of 30 nm or less is 0.29-1.37 cc/g. The active carbon can be obtained by a production method comprising the step of mixing and molding 7-40 pts.wt. of binder with respect to 100 pts.wt. of a porous material with a median size of 5-150 μm.SELECTED DRAWING: None
