PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of suppressing striking noise or transmission shock, in performing seamless shift.SOLUTION: An automatic transmission has a shift actuator capable of moving a low-speed clutch ring and a high-speed clutch ring in an axial engagement direction with movement toward an axial engagement side, and configured to allow movement toward an axial engagement release side. When the high-speed clutch ring is moved to the axial engagement direction to perform upshift, an axial movement time of a clutch ring dog is set shorter than a rotational movement time of moving backlash.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
