Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease resistance of a resistor, while suppressing reduction in durability of a glow plug.SOLUTION: A ceramic heater includes a resistor with silicon nitride (SiN) and tungsten carbide (WC) as main phase, and an insulator with silicon nitride as main phase and including the resistor. Average grain size of silicon nitride and tungsten carbide in the resistor is larger than the average grain size of silicon nitride in the insulator. In the arbitrary cross section of the resistor, particles satisfying the conditions A≤10 μm, B≥0.4 μm, and A/B≥4 exist at a ratio of 9-28 per 300 μm, where A is absolute maximum length in silicon nitride particles, B is diagonal width of the absolute maximum length A, and A/B is acicular ratio, i.e., the value of ratio of the diagonal width B to the absolute maximum length A.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
