PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a simplified structure of an inductive load drive unit as well as an available small-sized smoothing capacitor in a DC power supply.SOLUTION: An inductive load drive unit 1, having a drive circuit 2 for driving an inductive load 20 on the basis of electric power supplied from a DC power supply having a step-up capacitor 46 provided on a pair of output terminals and a control circuit 4 for controlling the drive circuit 2, includes an active clamp circuit 3 for voltage-clamping the drive circuit 2 so that a terminal voltage of the step-up capacitor 46 is not more than a predetermined limit voltage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
