Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a carbon nanotube assembly at high efficiency even if the conventional formation step is evaded.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a carbon nanotube assembly where a base material is prepared, a catalyst precursor layer including a catalyst raw material substance made of a compound containing elements composing a catalyst metal and a reducing gas generation substance is provided at the base material, the catalyst precursor layer is heated in an inert gas atmosphere to generate a reducing gas from the reducing gas generation substance, the catalyst raw material substance is reduced by the reducing gas to form a pulverized catalyst metal, and the pulverized catalyst metal is contacted with a raw material gas to grow carbon nanotubes.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
