Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pyroactuator for a vehicle safety device, which has an improved structure so as to efficiently apply pressure to a piston and to reduce size and weight.SOLUTION: This igniter with a piston is provided with: an ignition unit 5 that includes a resistance element 3 and ignition powders 4a and 4b; an igniter 2 provided with a blocking plug 7 that electrically insulates and holds a pair of electrial conduction terminal pins 6 connected to the resistance element 3; and a piston 8 that is columnar and provided with a recess 9 formed by a sleeve 10 at one end, the ignition unit 5 is located in the recess 9, and an opening formed by the sleeve 10 of the recess 9 is sealed by the blocking plug 7 to form a combustion chamber 11. The igniter is characterized in that no cup body for storing the ignition powders is provided, the piston having the recess has a cup body function, forms the combustion chamber to be installed, and is used as a member also serving as a piston function.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
