Abstract:
An appliance (10) comprises a conversation control unit (11a) which carries out a conversation with a user, an event sensing unit (11b) which senses an occurrence of a prescribed event which may be a trigger for the appliance (10) to commence the conversation, and a commencement assessment unit (11c) which, when the event sensing unit (11b) senses the occurrence of the event, assesses whether a prescribed condition has been satisfied. The conversation control unit (11a) commences the conversation according to the result of the assessment by the commencement assessment unit (11c).
