Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a composite fiber that can satisfactorily compound a metal oxide or a precursor of the metal oxide with a base material fiber at a low cost by a simple process even when the hydrophilicity on the surface of the base material fiber is low and to provide a method for producing a hollow fiber comprising a metal oxide or a precursor of the metal oxide.SOLUTION: The method for producing a composite fiber comprises performing a step (A) of allowing at least one kind of monohalogenated trialkoxysilane to react on the surface of a base material fiber and a step (B) of performing polycondensation of at least one kind of metal alkoxide by the sol-gel reaction on the surface of the base material fiber after performing the step (A) to deposit the polycondensation product being a metal oxide or a precursor of the metal oxide on at least a part of the surface of the base material fiber. The method may further comprise performing a step (C) of removing the base material fiber and allowing only the metal oxide or the polycondensation product to remain.SELECTED DRAWING: None
