Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the inflow of heat from a driver IC to a semiconductor Mach-Zehnder modulator constituting an optical transmitter, without impairing a high frequency property.SOLUTION: An optical transmitter includes: a Mach-Zehnder modulator 101; a driver IC 102; and a wiring board 103 for connecting the Mach-Zehnder modulator 101 and the driver IC 102 by flip-chip mounting. The Mach-Zehnder modulator 101 is constituted of an optical waveguide comprising a semiconductor. Also the Mach-Zehnder modulator 101 has a ground electrode track and a ground electrode so as to employ a differential drive type. The driver IC 102 employs an open collector type or an open drain type output method, and drives the Mach-Zehnder modulator 101.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
