Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cellulose derivative capable of stably obtaining an aqueous solution having high transparency when dissolved in water.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a cellulose derivative which comprises the following steps (I) and (II): the step (I): a step of subjecting a cellulose-containing raw material to pulverization treatment to obtain powdery cellulose having a moisture content of less than 2.5 mass% and a crystallization index of -3.5% or less as determined by the following calculation expression: crystallization index=[(I-I)/I]×100 (1) [where, Irepresents the diffraction intensity of a cellulose I type crystalline lattice plane (002 plane) (angle of diffraction 2θ=22.6°) in X-ray diffraction and Irepresents the diffraction intensity of an amorphous part (angle of diffraction 2θ=18.5°)] and the step (II): a step of reacting the powdery cellulose obtained in the step (I) and a reaction agent in the presence of 0.5 mol equivalent or more and 3.0 mol equivalent or less of a basic compound per 1 mol of an anhydroglucose unit of the cellulose constituting the main chain of the powdery cellulose.SELECTED DRAWING: None
