PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means for examining the cellular property of test cells to select the therapeutic method of malignant tumor more appropriately.SOLUTION: There is provided a gene marker for examining the cellular property of test cells. There is provided a mRNA, peptide or protein of nicotinamide phosphoribosyl-group transferase (NAMPT) gene, or a gene marker that is a polynucleotide comprising the promoter sequence of NAMPT gene. The gene marker can be used to examine the cellular property relating to metastatic property of tumor cells of the subject, because NAMPT gene is an indicator gene having high correlation with the metastatic property of tumor cells, overexpressed in tumors that have strong metastatic ability.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
