Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery including a pressure type safety mechanism capable of preventing a member from being easily melted during short circuit in the pressure type safety mechanism capable of generating short circuit due to rise of inner pressure during overcharge.SOLUTION: A secondary battery includes a battery case, a positive electrode terminal, a negative electrode terminal, and a short circuit member. The positive electrode terminal has a positive electrode terminal projection and the negative electrode terminal has a negative electrode terminal projection. A hole is formed between the positive electrode terminal and the negative electrode terminal of the battery case. The short circuit member has a sliding unit and a short circuit plate unit, the sliding unit is arranged in the hole, and when inner pressure of the battery case is increased, the sliding unit is slid from the inner direction of the battery case to the outer direction. The short circuit plate unit has a length capable of contacting with the positive electrode terminal projection and the negative electrode terminal projection, and is arranged so as to electrically connect between the positive electrode terminal projection and the negative electrode terminal projection when the sliding unit is slid from the inner direction of the battery case to the outer direction. The short circuit plate unit has melting resistance higher than at least one of the positive electrode terminal projection and the negative electrode terminal projection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
