Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly mount cutting inserts to tip mounting seats in a tip end of a tool body while preventing chattering and suppress the occurrence of cracks in the cutting insert.SOLUTION: A cutting edge replaceable ball end mill A1 is provided in which cutting inserts 20, 30 are mounted to tip mounting seats 11, 12 in a tip end of a tool body 10 in an interchanging manner. A pair of circular arc-shaped tip side cutting blades 21a, 31a and substantially linear-shaped outer circumferential side cutting blades 21b, 31b are oppositely provided on one side of the cutting insert. Key grooves 23, 33 are provided so that the width of the outer circumferential side cutting blade side may become larger than that of the opposite tip side cutting blade side to the position being in the middle of going from the outer circumferential side cutting blade in the cutting edge toward the tip side cutting blade in the opposite cutting edge on the opposite surface of the cutting insert. Regulating parts 11a,12a for regulating the cutting inserts and respective key parts 11b, 12b corresponding to respective key grooves are provided to the tip mounting seat.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
