Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To handle a sentence in character units and not as words and compute the continuity and position of linkage between characters, thereby making it possible to quickly indicate relationship between characters.SOLUTION: The number of characters in two character strings used for determination is acquired for each, and when the number of characters in two character strings are different, a character string having a greater number of characters is made a searched string A and a character string having a smaller number of characters is made a search string B, or when the number of characters in two character strings are same, one of the character strings is made a searched string A and the other is made a search string B (search string and searched string determination means). A discretionary character constituting the search string B and a discretionary character constituting the searched string A are compared and a similarity value is found in accordance with a predetermined criterion (similarity value calculation means), and it is determined, on the basis of relationship with the continuity and position of linkage between characters, that the larger the similarity value is, higher the similarity between the search string B and the searched string A (similarity determination means) is.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
