Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit/receive a signal that includes data obtained by hierarchical modulation without increasing signal power.SOLUTION: A communication device comprises: a first modulator 101 for mapping first data to generate a first modulation signal; a second modulator 102 for mapping second data different from the first data to generate a second modulation signal; an addition unit 104 that adds the first modulation signal and the second modulation signal to generate a hierarchical modulation signal; a normalization coefficient calculation unit 105 that calculates a normalization coefficient for normalizing an amplitude of a transmission signal on the basis of an inter-hierarchy power ratio that is a ratio of signal powers of the first modulation signal and the second modulation signal; an amplitude adjustment unit 106 that adjusts an amplitude of the hierarchical modulation signal on the basis of the normalization coefficient; and a transmission unit that transmits the hierarchical modulation signal with the adjusted amplitude as the transmission signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
