Abstract:
To provide a planar illumination device which suppresses color unevenness occurring on a light guide plate partially, and is excellent in uniformity of color tone of emission light, and a light guide plate molding method.SOLUTION: A planar illumination device includes: a light source that emits white light including a light emitting diode and a wavelength conversion material that emits light by being excited by light emitted by the light emitting diode; a light incident end surface, which is an end surface where the light source is disposed; and a light guide plate having an emission surface for emitting the light incident from the light incident end surface. The light guide plate is provided with a light diffusion part partially for scattering mainly the light emitted by the light emitting diode rather than the light emitted by the wavelength conversion material by Rayleigh scattering, to at least one of the emission surface and a reverse surface opposed to the emission surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
