To reduce an extra load in determining placement of a software component in a distributed processing system.SOLUTION: Provided is a placement determination method in a distribution processing system that executes each of a plurality of linked software elements in any of a plurality of nodes and servers, where each of the plurality of nodes captures a packet transmitted from a software element executed in the node, calculates a traffic rate of packets sent to an address other than a loopback address from among the captured packet, and executes processing of sending the calculated traffic rate to a server. In addition, the server performs processing of determining the placement of the plurality of software elements on the basis of the received traffic rate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 30
