Abstract:
To provide a slide member which allows for reduction of a friction coefficient on the surface thereof while the seizure thereof is prevented, and a method of manufacturing the slide member.SOLUTION: The slide member is provided that comprises: a base material composed of steel; and a metal In layer which is formed on a surface of the base material via an In oxide layer, and has a thickness of 30 - 100 nm, and an arithmetic average roughness Ra of 100 nm or less. The method of manufacturing is also provided that comprises: a step in which a coating mainly composed of Fe oxide is formed on a surface of the base material composed of steel by heating the surface to a temperature range of 200°C or more and 300°C or less while the surface of the base material composed of steel contacts an atmosphere including an oxidizing gas; and a step in which an In coating is formed on a surface of the coating mainly composed of the Fe oxide by a PVD method.SELECTED DRAWING: None
