Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder with which it is possible to adjust the posture of a head relative to a scale without using an external apparatus, etc., for observing the signal strength of a Lissajous signal.SOLUTION: An encoder 1 comprises: a scale 2 having divisions along the direction of measurement; a head 3, having a light source 4 and light-receiving means 5, for moving relatively along the direction of measurement of the scale 2 and detecting the amount of movement relative to the scale 2; and control means for controlling the head 3. The control means includes a detection unit 10 for detecting the measurement light received by the light-receiving means 5 as a detection signal, a feedback unit 11 for feeding back the detection signal as a feedback signal, a luminous energy control unit 12 for controlling the luminous energy of the measurement light on the basis of the feedback signal, and an observation unit 13 for observing the luminous energy of the measurement light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
