Abstract:
To provide a method for formation of a multi-layer coating film with retroreflective ability by which a coating film, which has a profound and shining metallic appearance when vied from whole angle, exhibits sufficient retroreflective ability with high brightness during night, and has both of high-class design and functionality.SOLUTION: A method for formation of a multi-layer coating film with retroreflective ability includes: a process (1) in which a base paint composition containing an aluminum pigment (a1) and/or an interference pigment (a2) as a brilliant pigment is coated on a coated object to form a metallic base coating film layer (I) as a reflective layer; a process (2) in which a retroreflective paint composition containing beads with high refractive index is coated to form a retroreflective coating film layer (II); and then a process (3) in which at least one layer of clear paint composition is coated to form a clear coating film layer (III); in this order. In this method, L*45 value of the metallic base coating film layer (I) is 50 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
