Abstract:
To provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine, which can quickly deal with superposition discharge control for performing a superposition discharge by using a sub-primary coil, when the superposition discharge control is not in an appropriate state.SOLUTION: An ignition device 1 for an internal combustion engine includes a superposing function part 14 in an ignition coil unit 10, which receives a superposition signal Sp to control energization of a sub-primary coil 111b after cutting off energization of a main primary coil 111a on the basis of an ignition signal Si from an internal combustion engine drive control device 3. The superposing function part 14 performs superposition control by energization of the sub-primary coil 111b, determines whether the superposition control is appropriate or abnormal, and notifies the internal combustion engine drive control device 3 if there is an abnormality.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
