Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as a pesticide, in high yield, economically in an industrial scale, by reacting 2-hydrazino-4-methylbenzothiazole with formic acid in the presence of an aprotic solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound, 5-methyl-1,2,4-triazolo(3,4-b)benzothiazole, is prepared by reacing 1mol of 2-hydrazino-4-methylbenzothiazole with 1- 3mol of formic acid in the presence of an aprotic solvent (e.g. N,N-dimethylaniline) at 100-200 deg.C, pref. 130-170 deg.C, for 3-20hr, pref. 5-10hr. The objective compound can be prepared, effectively, with low consumption of formic acid, without restriction to the formic acid concentration.
