Abstract:
The dewaxing aid comprises: (a) lithium isostearate and (b) a polymer of an ester of at least one aliphatic (suitably C6-C30) alcohol with methacrylic acid or acrylic acid, the polymer having an average molecular weight of from 300,000 to 2,000,000. Preferably the weight ratio of component (a) to (b) is from 1/1 00 to 100/1, e.g. 1/10 to 10/1. When used in a solvent dewaxing process, increased filtering rates are obtained during the separation of the wax from the oil solution, compared with the use of polymer (b) alone. Components (a) and (b) may be added together, or separately, to the hydrocarbon oil, preferably in solution in a suitable solvent.
