PURPOSE:To perform effectively the seal and release of the fuel element inser tion part inserted into a pressure welding equipment and to make the sealing member miniaturized and light-weight and the service life longer by performing the pressure compression in radial direction of a cylindrical high elastic body. CONSTITUTION:A pressure fluid body is led to a pipe path 40 after setting up a fuel element 1 at the prescribed position. The pressure fluid body presses in the radial direction respectively sealing members 32, 33 from the spaces 38, 39 of the inside of groove parts 30, 31. The sealing members 32, 33 are deformed accordingly with being compressed in the radial direction to be pressed and comes into close contact with the outer periphery of the fuel element 1. The space between the outer part of the pressure welding chamber 20 and the space 21 of the inner part can completely be sealed air-tightly. Thereafter the sealing of the gas into the fuel element 1 and the welding of the sealing port are performed by the prescribed method. The sealing member 32, 33 returns to its original shape by its elastic restoring force with the pressure reduction of the grooves 30, 31 after welding. The sealing is thus enabled effectively and the equipment can be miniaturized and lightweighted.
