PURPOSE:To bond cells and leads and the leads themselves each other, by compressing the cells and the leads and the leads themselves that are located at both ends of the cells by compressing members, whose material transmits laser light so as to contact them tightly, and projecting the laser light through the compressing members. CONSTITUTION:Leads 2 are drawn from reels, which are arranged at the upper and lower parts of the path of cells 1 and made to face each other with the path of the cells in-between. The rear end of the n-th thin film of one lead 2 is made to face the leading part of the (n+1)th thin film of the other lead 2. The leads are positioned in this way and drawn out. In synchronization with the movement of a belt 5, the leads 2 are drawn out. The cells 1 are sequentially supplied between projections 6 of the belt 5 under this state, and the belt 5 is intermittently moved. The cells 1 are inserted between the leads 2 and sent to a bonding position sequentially. Then cylinders 12 are operated and a quartz plate 11 is brought close to the cells 1. Then, laser oscillators 24 are operated, and laser light beams 25 are projected to the leads 2 through optical projecting systems 22. At the same time, motors 16 are operated, and the optical systems 22 are moved.
