Abstract:
PURPOSE:To facilitate combustion during the later period of combustion stroke, improve thermal efficiency, and obtain a low fuel cost engine by providing a water injection device that starts injecting water into an engine combustion chamber later than the start of fuel injection and ends the water injection later than the end of the fuel injection. CONSTITUTION:A fuel cam 9 drives a fuel injection pump 8, to jet out fuel into a combustion chamber 100 at an appropriate time through a fuel injection pipe 7 and an injection valve 6. Toward the end of the fuel injection, a water- injection pump driving cam 13 is operated to operate a water injection pump 12 jetting out water from a water injection valve 10 through a water injection pipe 11. The injected water is atomized and becomes water spray, moves on within a combustion chamber 100, and stirs up lumps of flame in the combustion chamber.
