Abstract:
A device for fixing a ring on a shaft comprises an annular support having a hole with a laminated tapering section. This section is surrounded by a cylindrical snap ring groove in which a split taper socket with an inversely conical hole is inserted. When the preassembled arrangement of support, ring and split taper socket are pushed on, the conical section of the hole in the support expands, thereby eliminating the wedge-shaped annular gap formed between the hole in the split taper socket and the inner circumference of the annular groove. The device protects the ring from potentially destructive radial forces.
