PURPOSE:To provide a dispersion stabilizer composed of an oxyalkylene-containing vinyl ester resin or its mixture with a water-soluble polymer, having excellent dispersibility and absorptivity of plasticizers, and giving a vinyl chloride polymer having sharp particle size distribution. CONSTITUTION:The objective dispersion stabilizer is composed of (A) an oxyalkylene-containing vinyl ester resin of formula (R<1> and R<2> are H or alkyl; X is H, alkyl, or an organic residue such as alkyl ester, alkylamide, sulfonic acid base, etc.; n is 1-300) and if necessary, (B) a water-soluble polymer (preferably a polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of 65-95mol% and a polymerization degree 300-3,000, or its derivative). The dispersion stabilizer is preferably used in the suspension polymerization or emulsion polymerization of a vinyl compound. The amount of the stabilizer is preferably 0.005-3wt% of the vinyl chloride monomer, and when the components A and B are used in combi- nation, the ratio of A/B is preferably 10/90-70/30.
