Abstract:
A multi-fuel carburettor is described, which is provided for an internal combustion engine and in which alcohol or the like with a lower volatility is used as main fuel and petrol solely as secondary fuel. A main air passage is provided, together with a secondary air passage. A vacuum-controlled arrangement and a first temperature-controlled arrangement are provided with the first air passage, whilst a vacuum-controlled arrangement and a second temperature-controlled arrangement are in effective connection with the second air passage. If the cooling water when starting has a low temperature, alcohol and petrol are injected into the first air passage, controlled by the first temperature-controlled valve, whilst the second air passage remains closed. On completion of the warm-up phase, alcohol alone is injected into the first and the second air passage, which is then held in the open condition.
