Abstract:
Economical process for obtaining a magnesium alloy having improved mechanical characteristics, especially a breaking load of at least 290 MPa and an elongation of at least 5%, characterised in that an ingot of the following weight composition is formed by spraying and deposition in massive form: … …  Al 2-9% …  Zn 0-4% …  Mn 0-1% …  Ca 0.5-5% …  RE 0-4% (rare earths) … with main impurities, the remainder being magnesium, and in that the said ingot is subjected to a consolidation treatment by deformation with heating between 200 and 350 DEG C, and alloys obtained by the process, consisting of a homogeneous magnesium matrix with a grain size of between 3 and 25 mu m and of particles of intermetallic compounds.
