Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make it possible to aim at regenerating a particulate trapping filter even though the temperature of exhaust gas is low, by intermittently supplying a fuel additive, and as well by previously diffusing catalyst in particulates so that they are mixed together. CONSTITUTION:A particulate trapping filter 12 is disposed in an exhaust passage in a Diesel-engine 1, and traps particulates from a fuel chamber in the Diesel- engine. A fuel additive supply device for intermittently supplying a fuel additive is arranged upstream of the particulate trapping filter 12. Chloride of Pb, Cu, Ca, etc. is used as the additive, which is dispersed in the particulates, surrounding the outer shell of the latter, or which is dispersed so that it surrounds the outer and inner shell of the same, stratiformly, thereby it contributes to the combustion of the particulates.
