Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
Amine N-oxides represented by the formula: wherein Rf is C3-C20 perfluoroalkyl; R is H or alkanoyl containing 1-4 carbons; R<1> and R<2> are the same or different C1-C6 alkyl or C1-C6 hydroxyalkyl, or together with the N atom to which they are bonded form a piperidine, morpholine or N-alkyl (C1-C4) piperazine ring; or R<1> is C1-C6 alkyl or C1-C6 hydroxyalkyl and R<2> is R<3> is C1-C6 alkyl or C1-C6 hydroxyalkyl; and n is an integer from 1-8; and mixtures thereof. The amine N-oxides are highly effective in reducing the surface tension of aqueous systems and as aqueous foaming agents. They are prepared by oxidizing the amine represented by the formula: i
