Abstract:
The invention concerns a master cylinder for hydraulic systems, in particular brake systems. The aim of the invention is to reduce the return stroke of the piston (3) conditioned by a compensation aperture (7) in the cylinder wall (1). The invention achieves this aim essentially by calling for the compensation aperture (7) to be oblong, preferably elliptical, in cross-section (10), with the major axis (C) of the ellipse perpendicular to the cylinder axis (D). The invention also includes a process for producing an aperture (7) as required by the invention. In this process, a bore (11) which does not pierce entirely through the cylinder wall is first made from the outside, and an aperture shaped as required by the invention subsequently stamped out from the remaining thickness of wall.
