PURPOSE:To efficiently treat by arranging a flame device which emits flame and a holding member which holds a plastic optical fiber so that the flame and the end face of the optical fiber face each other with a certain gap between them and providing a shutter mechanism between them. CONSTITUTION:A flame device 1 consists of a burner nozzle 11, a torch 12, and a torch supporting tool 13, and a gas pipe 14 and is turned down and is fixed to a fixing part 3 like a pole brace. A holding member 2 consists of a holding tool 21 like a clip and a supporting body 22 and holds a mouth piece 42 of an optical fiber 4 and is so arranged that the flame and the end face of the optical fiber face each other with a certain gap between them, and a shutter mechanism 5 consists of a heat resisting disk 51 having through holes 51A, a driving shaft 52, and a driving motor. The flame is emitted downward, and a part 51B where there are no transmission holes 51A is first placed just under the flame, and next, the optical fiber 4 is held by the holding tool 21 and the disk 51 is rotated at about 45 deg.. The flame passes the through hole 51A by this rotation, and in this state, the flame is brought into contact with an optical fiber end face 41 to treat it.
