Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R<1> is H, acyl, or benzyloxycarbonyl; R<2> is H, OH, methanesulfonyloxy, etc.; R<3> is H, OH, trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy, etc.). EXAMPLE:2-Acetamido-1,5-anhydro-2-deoxy-4,6-isopropylidene-D-glucitol. USE:Useful as a synthetic raw material or synthetic intermediate for 1- deoxymuramylpeptide which is useful as an immunizing agent such as immuno- adjuvant, or a medicinal drug such as carcinostatic agent, antitumor agent, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II (Ac is acetyl) with 2,2-dimethoxypropane in an aprotic solvent such as N,N-dimethylformamide in the presence of an acidic catalyst (e.g. p-toluenesulfonic acid) at room temperature or under heating and neutralizing and crystallizing the reaction product.
