Title:
【発明の名称】触媒反応を起こす流体により貫流される触媒の機能監視方法
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06501532
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
In a process for monitoring the function of a catalytic converter (1) through which a catalysable fluid, in particular an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine (3), flows along a direction of flow from an inlet side (12) to an outlet side (13), the distribution of the temperature in or on the catalytic converter is measured and used to derive a mean temperature and at least one local temperature. The mean temperature is derived along the direction of flow and the local temperature corresponds to the temperature at a spatially delimited measurement point. Information concerning the condition of the catalytic converter (1) is derived from the mean temperature and the local temperature. The invention also concerns a monitorable catalytic converter with a first temperature probe (5), which consists of a piece of wire with a temperature-dependent electrical resistance and which is connected to the catalytic converter (1) along a measurement section essentially parallel to the direction of flow, and at least a second temperature probe (4, 6), which is connected to a measurement point on the catalytic converter (1). The invention makes it possible to ascertain, simply and reliably, the condition of a catalytic convertor (1) with respect to ageing and/or poisoning.
