Abstract:
A lap is produced in a spreader/lapper (2) by successively folding a fibre web coming from a card (1), and then the lap is drawn in a tenter (4). The tenter (4) used is equipped with rotary means having, on their periphery, a covering comprising spikes which penetrate deep into the lap. The degree of drawing is regulated in such a way that the fibres in the drawn product are mainly distributed in two orientations substantially symmetrical relative to the longitudinal direction of the drawn product and forming an angle of between 30 DEG and 60 DEG with said longitudinal direction. The invention is used particularly in order to improve the mechanical stability of lapped products.
