Abstract:
PURPOSE:To change the frequency of pulse high voltage generation over a wide range depending on the power conduction on/off control of a thyristor and to eliminate almost the power loss using a mechanical rotary arc gap applying switching operation synchronously with the current block time by the thyristor. CONSTITUTION:An output of a current detector 33 of the primary side of a high voltage transformer 23 enters a controller 34 to apply the firing angle control of the thyristor of a low voltage side power adjusting device 22 based on the frequency of the pulse high voltage generation. When the capacitor 26 is charged up sufficiently, the capacitor is discharged and switched when an input electrode 28, an output electrode 29 and a rotary electrode 30 of the mechanical rotary arc gap 27 are in the closest contact. When the arc gap is switched synchronously with the frequency of an AC power once a half cycle of the AC power supply, the current block time of the low voltage power adjusting device 22 is adjusted so as to prevent the rush current from a full wave rectifier 24 to a load 32 from flowing synchronously with the frequency of the AC power supply.
