Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a non-contact potentiometer characterized by excellent output linearity and a relatively high manufacturing yield rate, by relatively moving a ferromagnetic magnetoresistance element and a magneticfield generating means along a spefied line. CONSTITUTION:On an insulated substrate 1, a circular ferromagnetic magnetoresistance element 2, which has an opening part and comprises a thin film made of Ni-Fe, Ni-Co and the like, is formed. One end part of the opening part is connected to a power source Vcc, and the other end part is grounded. An output Vout is taken out of the intermediate point. A fan shaped permanent magnet 3 is attached to the insulated substrate 1, with a specified interval being provided from the ferromagnetic magnetoresistance element 2. The magnet 3 is rotated in the circumferential direction of the element 2, with the center of the element 2 as the center of the rotary axis. The absolute value of the intensity of the magnetic field generated by the magnet 3 is higher than the saturated magnetic field intensity of the element 2. When the permanent magnet 3 is rotated in the circumferential direction of the ferromagnetic magnetoresistance element 2, the resistance-value reduced part in the element 2 is continuously rotated and moved, and the value of the output Vout has linearity.
